FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

The OMGAA Financial Assistance Program was established to help cover some, or all, of the costs of registration into OMGAA programs for families experiencing economic difficulties beyond their control. Applications for Financial Assistance are confidential and reviewed only by the OMGAA President and considered on a case-by-case basis.

GLEASON RULES

In 2024, the Osseo/Maple Grove Athletic Association, in partnership with the City of Maple Grove, opened 4 turfed and lighted fields in Maple Grove. Each field has dedicated batting cages, portable mounds, lights, and scoreboards. Gleason Fields are a premier destination for baseball and softball in both the metro area and greater state of Minnesota.

Rules for Gleason Fields include:

  • No food; including seeds and peanuts
  • No soft toss into fencing
  • Turf shoes or plastic cleats are encouraged
  • Any equipment without wheels must be lifted not dragged
  • Please do not pick or pull grass fibers or fill material
  • Please Be Respectful!

8U

Focus on fundamentals: Emphasis on basic hitting, fielding, and base running skills.  Coaches will use a spring loaded machine to deliver pitches at a reasonable speed to encourage players to make contact with the ball and for players to field the ball.  Teams may practice 1-2 times were per week and have 1-2 games per week.  Games may be played against other communities and require travel to those communities.  

10U

Increased competition: More focus on strategy and advanced skills. Additionally, this level will work to develop pitching and catching.  Players will be introduced to stealing bases at this level. Teams may practice 1-2 times per week and have 1-2 games per week.  Games may be played against other communities and require travel to those communities. 

12U

Advanced skills: More emphasis on advanced hitting techniques, pitching mechanics, and defensive positioning. Teams may practice 1-2 times per week and have 1-2 games per week.  Games may be played against other communities and require travel to those communities.

14U+

High school level play: More complex strategies and higher level of competition. The objective is to provide players a platform to continue to play fast pitch in a fun and competitive environment.  Teams may practice 1-2 times per week and have 1-2 games per week.  Games may be played against other communities and require travel to those communities.
