D2 Fall Ball

OMGAA is excited to offer for the first time a D2 House Fast Pitch Fall Ball league.  The league will be made up of teams from OMGAA and Plymouth/Wayzata Youth Softball Association (PWYSA).  D2 uses a spring loaded machine to deliver pitches at a reasonable speed.  D2 focuses on the basic fundamentals such as throwing, hitting, catching, fielding, and base running.  Girls entering 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade are eligible to participate in the fall league. 

Practices will start the week of August 6th and coaches can have 1-2 practices a week.  Games will take place every Sunday (with the exception of Labor Day) beginning  August 12 and concluding September 30th.  Game will be played on Sunday afternoons.

Registration will close on July 23, but may close sooner depending on the numbers.  Registration will be may be limited to ensure and equal amount of teams for scheduling purposes.  Registration will be on a first come, first serve basis.  The cost will be $100 and a t-shirt will be provided (please indicate size upon registration). 

2018 OMGAA House Fast Pitch Program Levels

OMGAA House Fast pitch league is a house program for girls completing grades 2 – 12.   The league focuses on teaching basic fundamentals of the sport.

D2: Grades 2 & 3-Machine Pitch

The D2 level will focus on the basic fundamentals such as throwing, catching, hitting, fielding, and base running.  Coaches will use a spring loaded machine to deliver pitches at a reasonable speed to encourage players to make contact with the ball and for players to field the ball.  Teams may practice 1-2 times were per week and have 1-2 games per week.  Games may be played against other communities and require travel to those communities.  Generally, games will be played on on Mondays/Wednesdays.

D3:  Grades 4 & 5-Player Pitch

The D3 level will continue to build players’ basic fundamental skills and understanding of game situations.  Additionally, this level will work to develop pitching and catching.  Teams may practice 1-2 times per week and have 1-2 games per week.  Games may be played against other communities and require travel to those communities.  Generally, games will be played on Tuesday/Thursdays.

D4:  Grades 6 & 7-Player Pitch

The D4 level will continue to build players’ basic fundamental skills and understanding of the game.  Players at this level will continue to work on pitching and catching.  Teams may practice 1-2 times per week and have 1-2 games per week.  Games may be played against other communities and require travel to those communities.  Generally, games will be played on Mondays/Wednesdays.

D5:   Grades 8-12-Player Pitch

The D5 level will continue to build players’ basic fundamentals.  The objective is to provide players a platform to continue to play fast pitch in a fun and competitive environment.  Teams may practice 1-2 times per week and have 1-2 games per week.  Games may be played against other communities and require travel to those communities.  Generally, games will be played on Mondays/Wednesdays.
